• 4.10 Organización de Congresos

    Durante mi periodo de vicepresidente fundador y luego presidente de la División de Gravitación y Física Matemática de la Sociedad Mexicana de Física y como secretario general fundador del Instituto Avanzado de Cosmología, he tenido que organizar una variedad de congresos internacionales y nacionales seriados. Así mismo, hemos organizado otra serie de escuelas internacionales de astrofísica, llamadas EMA (Escuela Mexicana de Astrofísica), conjuntamente con investigadores de la UNAM, INAOE, etc. Nuestra política ha sido la de organizar congresos medianos, del orden de 100 asistentes, con los máximos líderes mundiales de las áreas que están en investigación en el mundo, con el objetivo que cada estudiante o investigador participe y entre en contacto con estos líderes. Le hemos dado menos importancia a los congresos gigantes, donde el contacto con líderes es mínimo. Nuestros congresos gozan ahora de un enorme prestigio internacional y son sin duda los de mayor presencia y prestigio en Latinoamérica. He organizado 37 congresos, entre estos, los primeros cinco de la serie “Cosmology on the Beach” conjuntamente con el Berkeley Center for Cosmological Physics, cuyo principal miembro del comité organizador es George Smoot, premio Nobel 2006. El Dr. Smoot me dio una carta en donde certifica que fui parte de la organización de los primeros cinco congresos de cosmología, en conjunto con el Berkeley Center for Cosmological Physics (BCCP). Este congreso hoy goza de un enorme prestigio internacional, el mismo Prof. Smoot lo certifica. En el BCCP laboran 3 de los 5 premios Nobel en cosmología de los últimos 12 años.
